Narcissism
I have been increasingly concerned with this issue since perhaps ten years ago, when a friend brought it up in reference to the overall tone in Los Angeles, not just among actors, but among those whose lifestyle or work brought them in contact with fame or fortune, or those who have fame and fortune.
This was before the 'reality TV' binge began, and she had noted an increase in the self-absorption of people whose tangential connection with the famous bled into their personal lives, as if they themselves participated in the fame of their employers, or as the case often was, their more famous yet never met co-workers.
But today the picture is even more dire. With TV programs both aimed at and full of people with dreams and delusions nowhere near as great as their flaws, coupled with their willingness to act inappropriately on camera, we now have a level of both narcissism and voyeurism that combined, is dizzifying. To coin a term.
Self-obsession is not, and never was, ok. If you think that you are awesome, you are assuredly deluded. You are self absorbed. Sorry to tell ya. No one else would.

Loss of Faith
Obama is having his first loss in terms of confidence among voters, surrounding the AIG bonus issue. Let the Republican nay-sayers go fuck themselves. They had eight years to run this country, and they ran it into the ground.
8 years of Republican rule have put us in this place. Give the Democrat some time to sort it out. Let's not listen to their same said idiocy, just for a while, and see how it plays. They bite our ankles while we walk steadily toward the light, but walk we will.
